Title I Academic Achievement Award

Alexander Rose School received the Title I Academic Achievement Award
at the Twenty-First Annual Title I Academic Achievement Awards
Ceremony presented by the California Department of Education in Anaheim
on May 27, 2005. Rose School was one of only 248 schools within the state
to receive such an honor. Principal, Roland LaRochelle accepted the plaque
and flag as he shook hands with Jack O’Connell, State Superintendent of
Public Education.

Title I schools must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
1. The poverty index at the school must equal at least 40 percent of all
students enrolled.
2.Schools must have two years of assessment data in the state accountability
system for growth results to be calculated for the Academic Performance
Index (API).
3. All eligible Title I schools must have exceeded adequate yearly progress
(AYP) for 2002-03 and 2003-04.
4. An eligible school must demonstrate the achievement level of twice the
school wide API growth target and twice the API growth target for the
socio-economically disadvantaged subgroup for 2002-03 and 2003-04.

Congratulations to Rose staff, parents and students for their diligence in
meeting the challenge to raise student achievement.
