2015 - 2016 TIGER TRAITS

Each month Rose School focuses on a different 'Tiger Trait' - positive behaviors and attitudes that that help young children grow up  into healthy, caring, and responsible adults.  The 'Book of the Month' is read in classrooms throughout the school as a model of the trait in action. Each month the Rose School Spirit Leaders create a video that explains and demonstrates the trait, this video is shown at our monthly awards assembly and then made available here for our families to enjoy it.

The first day of school for all students for the 2016-2017 School Year is on THURSDAY, AUGUST 11TH.  Per district policy all students must be in school on the first day of the school year to keep their current enrollment.  Students who are absent on the August 11th will be placed on a space available basis when they return.

The Common Core Standards

Rose School has been transitioning our curriculum to a new generation of standards - The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) which have established rigorous expectations for student work at every grade level.  

This three-minute video explains how the Common Core State Standards will help students achieve at high levels and help them learn what they need to know to get to graduation and beyond.

SMARTER BALANCED ASSESSMENTS

The Smarter Balanced Assessments are the next generation of assessments that will measure student growth toward the Common Core Standards.  For the 2014-2015 School Year all Rose students in grades 3-6 will participate the Smarter Balanced Assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics.  Practice tests to familiarize students parents and teachers with the format of the new tests are available on-line.

These roadmaps include examples of grade-level focus in the content area, sample progressions of learning across three grade levels in the Common Core, and tips to parents on communicating with teachers about their child’s work and how to support student learning at home.
